They Say What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas… Not This Time
We were so excited to land in Las Vegas, Nevada. We hadn’t been to Vegas in so long. We aren’t big gamblers but we loved that we didn’t have to wait to get to a casino to start playing. The bright lights, exciting sounds and music of all kinds of slot machines are set up at the airport ready to play.

After we got passed the ‘awe’ of the airport we found the ride share area and made our way to our hotel, the Tropicana. We chose Tropicana based on location and price. It is located on the south end of the strip and close to the airport which made for easy access with little traffic when getting a ride. Our room was spacious, had a nice desk area and the bathroom was lit up nicely.

We actually booked a few activities prior to our trip. The Donnie and Marie show was one of them. Then I saw Christina Aguilera had a show. I knew the jet lag would be tough for a late show (after Donnie and Marie) but i had to see it so we bought tickets.
We were excited to get out on the town. First stop, dinner at Robert Irvine’s Public House restaurant in our hotel. The ahi tuna sashimi and the original burger were so delicious we couldn’t wait to go there again.
Now off to the strip to see the shows. It was Donnie and Marie’s last year of an 11-year residency at the Flamingo. They put on a great show and we were glad we were able to see them. After their show, we walked down to Planet Hollywood to see Christina’s fabulous performance in the Zappos Theater. She has an incredible voice and you MUST see The Xperience. Glenn was a good sport since we were exhausted and he didn’t really care about the show. 🙂
Following our shows, there was nothing more to do but return to the hotel and collapse.

The next morning we were refreshed and ready to go. We got our walking shoes on and hit the strip for a different breakfast experience. Not too far from our hotel, we found Fat Burger. Wow…we were pleasantly surprised that it was way better than we had expected. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We definitely recommend it and be sure to sit in the outside seating area especially when the weather is nice.

Once our bellies were full, we were ready to explore. The weather was beautiful in October but sometimes brisk. We enjoyed all the Vegas hotels/resorts and picked up some new Hazelnut M&M’s.

After a few hours on the strip and enjoying the people and sights, we were hungry again and happened upon Tom’s Urban. Cute place and the patio was packed so we figured it must be good. We chose to sit at the inside bar so we didn’t have to wait. It was a great choice as the bartender was entertaining and we enjoyed the experience. Food and drinks were spot on.

We decided to check out the pool and lay in the warm sun while we waited for a our friends to join us in Vegas.

Our friends made it to town and we we’re back at it. The Aerosmith concert was the next big event. Steven Tyler and band were fantastic and energetic. Total rock-n-roll extravaganza! They played all the hits and the stage and lighting were incredible. Definitely worth it.

The next day we had another “grand” adventure planned. The Grand Canyon helicopter tour with Canyon Tours. The tour package picked us up from our hotel. The drive was about 30 mins outside of town. When we arrived, they weighed each of us so they could balance out the seating in the helicopter. Our pilot then came to greet us, gave us the low down and off we went into the sky.
The flight went exactly as advertised. We flew over the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. It was a beautiful sight. Then we descended 4,000 feet to the Canyon floor where we enjoyed champagne and light picnic box. We were able to explore for about 30 minutes then headed back.

The Mob Museum Las Vegas was a fun attraction. We love the history and the interactive exhibits and digital experiences. No matter what the venue we always have a good time.

You can’t go to Vegas and not visit Pawn Stars or Fremont Street. No, it’s not really Rick. lol

We had such a great time. We hope that this gives you a flavor for it. The one thing we always do when we visit a new place is find a Christmas ornament as a remembrance knowing that as we hang it we will have great memories.

The town has much more to offer than we could experience in just 3-4 days. It is on our list to return for more experiences in the near future.
